There has never been a better time to learn to handcraft. And to my mind there is no better handcrafting activity than sewing and quilting with their huge variety of stunning things to make.
A few years ago I wanted to make a really special gift for a 'significant' birthday of my brother. I decided on a quilt and made one that I thought was stunning (luckily, he thought so too!). I now realise that I made it very badly, but I became totally hooked on quilting. I've heard it described as a healthy obsession. So many glorious fabrics to use, so many different kinds of quilts to make ....
I read every quilting book and magazine that I could find, took courses, went on all the workshops I could.
Then a friend said that she would love to learn to quilt but it was far too difficult for her. She was amazed when I showed her that by breaking down the quilting project into easy steps, it was possible for anyone to make the same beautiful projects.
That was when I realised that if I could help my friend to learn to quilt and sew, maybe there are more people who would benefit from my patterns and instructions. So I decided to write them up and provide them to you, too.

I just received your newsletter and wanted to say thank you so much. I love the ribbon quilt and have printed it off. I will make it up. I also liked the one with numbers on it. What a clever idea.
