Binding mitred corners on your quilt
For a full description of double fold quilt binding click on beginner
quilt binding. I have been asked for a detailed description of the mitred cornering process so that is given here:

I have used a 2 colour binding, black one side and white the other, in the hope that it will show up more clearly in the photos.
Here you see the binding sewn to the quilt corner with the 2 folds as explained in other sections.

Flip the binding so that the fold can be sewn on to the back of the quilt - white is the view of the front of the quilt, black the view of the back of the quilt.

Working from right to left, pin the binding in place leading up to the corner. With your thumb press the corner as shown so that you have a diagonal edge to fold the new section of the mitred binding down to meet the edge that you have just pinned.

Pin the left hand section and continue pinning or sewing along the next edge of the mitred binding. With practise you will find that you don't need to pin before sewing.

I tried to make my stitches as big as possible so that they would show up in the photo - they are not normally quite so spidery!
I find I need only 1 stitch on the diagonal of the mitred binding corner to hold it in place.
